Pattern Making
There are two methods in garment construction- draping and drafting. In a design studio, the designer will make the first pattern, through draping directly on a form or through drafting. But when a final design is decided upon, the designer's original pattern is turned into a working pattern by manipulation such as slash & spread method and dart manipulations etc.

Pattern Draping
The pattern draping - method is used for more elaborate and unique designs that are hard to obtain through the flat pattern method. It involves creating a muslin mock-up pattern fabric directly on a dress form, then transferring the muslin outline and markings onto paper pattern.
